Russian baking buddies

These popped up in our kitchen a few weeks ago.  My mother-in-law found them when she was out one day and figured I would enjoy something that combined something Russian and something to do with baking.

They’re SUPER cute and I like that it’s a set of six…the set I’ve always had only has four. 

I’ve only used them once and I’m sure I’ll get good use out of them during Christmas time.  For now, I’m doing my best not to bake anything for a while.  I have zero self-control when it comes to baked goods, even less when I’m tired, and since today it’s about 5am and I’ve been awake since before midnight I’m thinking this week is not the best time to bring a batch of cookies into the house.  :)

It seems that I’m finally starting to experience those super fun side-effects I was warned about when I started taking steroids for my platelets a couple weeks ago.  Thankfully, they are at least doing their job and as of my last two blood tests I’m good-to-go for an epidural.  If baby doesn’t arrive before Thursday morning on her own, then we’ll have a c-section and an epidural means no general anesthesia and I get to hear baby’s first cry and meet her right away.  I’m so thankful for modern medicine and smart doctors! 

Now, if I could only get some sleep…
