Birthday Fun | The Party
Wednesday, August 24, 2011
Sophia’s party last year came together over the course of four (or more!) months. Sophia’s party this year, for the most part, came together in less than a week. Both were equally as fun and I enjoyed the day leading up to this party even more, because I wasn’t running around like crazy.
We had a table full of yummy food – Sophia’s favorites. Hot dogs, trail mix, fruit salad, spinach salad with fruit, and processed cookies.
Every party needs balloons and a cake. Sophia’s turned out okay, just not like the picture I had in my head. Oh well, it tasted just fine.
Have you met my gorgeous future son-in-law? This is Tyler. We love him. Isn’t he adorable?!
we don’t see my brothers all that often, but Sophia’s been talking about “On-roo”{Andrew} for weeks. She was thrilled to finally see both him and Uncle John at her party.
Every party needs a fun activity. First we did a book exchange – every child brought a book, every child left with a book, so everyone has fun. Sophia passed the books out to each of her friends. I love, love, LOVE that she handed them presents and everyone got to have fun instead of it being all about her.
Go ahead and try to get a picture of six kids, most of which were squirmy two-year-olds. We did our best!
Next up was swimming. It didn’t last too long, the water was really cold, but still a fun way to end the party!
Papa was more than happy to share a few snuggles and help the birthday girl warm up.
Great party, great fun, and great to have it behind us. Back to normal life. I’m glad she got a big week of fun to celebrate her big day before her life is very drastically different in just a few short weeks!
